Last week we shared all about The Nautilus by Kanab, Utah, and today we get to share about our adventures in the Toadstool Hoodoos. They are located very close to each other, so if you get a chance to go, I would recommend doing both at the same time.
The Toadstool Hoodoos are located about 45 minutes west of Kanab on Highway 89. You will pass the Nautilus before the Hoodoos, so be sure to check out the location here before you go if you want to hit both of them!
Some things to remember before you go:
It is VERY hot with very little, if any, shade. Wear sunscreen and proper protection (hats, sunglasses, etc)
Take a lot of water. We got hiking packs for each of our kids so they could pack their water in a bladder. They also had whistles in case of emergencies, toilet paper, a small first aid kit, snacks, and cell phones.
Stay on the trail and remember to pack out what you pack in. Also, we were told to NOT touch the Hoodoos since it can cause damage.
Here is the map to get to the parking lot and trailhead for the Hoodoos. You can see the Hoodoos are north of the trailhead.
We had so much fun on this hike. We also took our dog, Jake. We made sure to give him lots of water and clean up after him, and we also kept him on a leash. If you take an animal, be sure to do the same 😉

Let me know if you have any questions. This is a great area to explore. Next week we are going to share about the Sand Caves, and other posts coming up include the Hidden Lake, Jackson Flat Reservoir, and more!
Southern Utah is packed with so much beautiful landscape. And more of it is free or cheap. You can see all about our trip to St. George (Red Cliffs, Snow Canyon, Reservoirs, and more). And Zion National Park is also close. So if you are wanting more to do in Southern Utah, be sure to check out those too.
