The Windows Arches National Park

I really love Arches National Park. It is such a great place to visit, especially with kids. There is so much to explore and see. We just shared our hike to Delicate Arch and Balanced Rock. Today I am excited to share more about The Windows.

The Windows section is packed with different arches. Next to Delicate Arch, it is probably one of the most scenic locations in the park. Here you will be able to see the North Window, South Window, and Turret Arch.

These are spectacular arches that you can hike right up to and get some pretty amazing pictures. The views from up by the arches are also pretty amazing, so be sure to look all around you while you are up there.

The Windows Arches National Park

There is a big parking lot that you will hike from to get up to the North and South Arches. Then you will hike down to Turret Arch. When you get back to the parking lot you can head over to Double Arch (which we are sharing about next week). Be sure to put ALL of these on your list of places to stop.

You will probably take about 30-60 minutes to do the North and South Arches and Turret Arch, and 15-45 minutes to do the Double Arch. Pets are not allowed on the trails, and like we have said many times before, it gets really hot in the cars, so find somewhere to watch your pets instead of leaving them inside.

I recommended going in the spring (Feb-April) or in the Fall (Sept. – Nov.). You will probably get some cooler weather, especially in Feb. and Nov. but there will not be nearly as many people there. And let’s be honest, 110 degrees is way worse than 50 or 60 degree weather.

Since neither of these are really a “hike” you probably don’t need to take much with you. Maybe some water and a snack if you have younger kids. But if you get a drink and a snack in the car before you get out and then you can refuel when you get back. That way you can just soak up the sights and enjoy the natural beauty around you.

There are also several picnic spots around the park with spectacular views. Like this one just down from Balanced Rock! We had so much fun eating lunch here.
