One of the first places you will pass when you go into Arches is the Park Avenue and Courthouse Towers trail. This is definitely worth the stop (even if you don’t do the hike) just to take pictures from the trailhead. These are some of the most amazing views you will see. So make sure this is a stop on your adventures through Arches National Park!
Since we only wanted to walk one way, Clint (my husband) dropped all of us off at the trailhead, and then he drove down to the pickup area (by the Courthouse Towers viewpoint) and hiked in to meet us. The whole hike is only about 1 mile so it doesn’t take a long time. In the beginning, it is paved and leads to the viewpoint. From here you can head down into the canyon. There is a slightly steep descent into the canyon, so be mindful of your littles. My kids were ok and my youngest was only about 5. The canyon is uneven and rocky. Be mindful not to trip or slip on the slick rock.
This is a great place to take photos and really soak in the views. We walked about halfway and then sat down and just enjoyed everything and took a bunch of photos. Depending on when you go, you may want to take a picnic or some snacks and have a break there.
Don’t forget to look back. While we were hiking I would turn around and take pictures of the views behind us as well as what was in front and on the sides. You really have to do 360’s to totally appreciate the spectacular views in the canyon.
