My hubby and I recently went on a romantic getaway in Las Vegas. I know you are probably thinking that it doesn’t sound very romantic to be in Vegas, but we found some really amazing things to do that were, believe it or not, romantic. We were able to experience restaurants, shows, attractions and more that helped us feel closer and happy together. We have four kids at home, and being able to spend a few days at a hotel by ourselves also help ;). One of the places we got to visit was The Neon Museum Las Vegas.
The Neon Museum is a “boneyard” for old signs that used to be an iconic part of Las Vegas history. The main lobby of the Neon Museum is the former La Concha Motel lobby (it’s really cool), and you go out behind this to take a tour of the signs. We went on a day time tour, but we really want to go back next time and do a night tour with the signs lit up.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and was able to tell us a lot about Las Vegas history that I never knew I wanted to know. It was really cool getting a background on the signs. Many of the pieces were well preserved or restored. There were some that I recognized (pat on the back) and was surprised – and excited to learn more about them. Las Vegas has a pretty cool history, and the stories are so fitting to the Vegas that we all know and love now.
If you are in the area, I would highly recommend stopping in and seeing all of the amazing signs and pieces that they have on display. It is a short drive from the main “strip” and well worth it. You can learn more about The Neon Museum Las Vegas here:
