Our family of six took a two week road trip from Utah to Southern California and back again. We want to share our journey with you and what we learned. To read about all of the adventures we had on our California Spring Break trip, click here.
We visited Legoland for the first time as a family this year. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but by the end of the day, we were not disappointed. It was an amazing experience with so many fun things to see and do, so read on to hear how our trip went.
The first thing I want to note is that we didn’t have to pay for parking. This was kinda a big deal since all of the other parks we went to charged around $16 each day. It was a little bit of a walk but no more so than you have already done walking around the park all day. I think our spot was about 1.5 blocks from the main entrance. Maybe less.
As far as I can remember they didn’t check our bags, although outside food and drinks are not allowed. We took water bottles to refill in the park. Getting the tickets and getting in was pretty quick. Right when you walk in there are restrooms, lockers, and guest services. The park splits and goes left or right. We decided to head right – and went into the Imagination Zone. After that we headed over to Land of Adventure,
The first thing we decided to do was the boat ride. I am glad we did. There are some really neat miniatures and Lego displays along the ride. From there we headed over to the big roller coaster. Our youngest was just a bit to short to ride on it so we all stood in line together and then they let us do a rider switch. I waited with my daughter wine the other four row and then even they got off, my husband watched her while I went in the ride. We ended up song this for most of the rides at each Park we went to. Worked great and saved so much time. We loved the LEGO Technic Roller Coaster and had fun on the Lost Kingdom Adventure game/ride (although the wait for this was killer, they had a great play area in the middle of the rows for the kids to play with LEGO’s while a parent waited in line. It worked out so great.
We didn’t get over to Pirate Shores until later in the afternoon – and I wish we would have went there in the early afternoon so it was warmer. The water rides were all fun – but the best was the Pirate Reef. You HAVE to go on this ride! There was literally no line when we went and it was one of the most fun things we did at LEGOLAND California.
The park was fairly easy to navigate once we had been around it and became familiar with the layout. We went on several more rides, toured the Lego factory, saw the Original Set from the LEGO Movie, and even got to see the LEGO® Legends of Chima™ 4D. Another fun thing about the time we visited was that it was Star Wars weekend, so there were people walking around all day dressed up in Star Wars Costumes. That was pretty awesome!
Overall the park was really great! I know my kids loved it and had a great time. My 4 year old still talks about the Kid Power Towers ride. There are a lot of different things to do there, and lots of places for your kids to play and have fun (without being on a ride). I would recommend this for families and adults alike. We had a great time and I am sure we will go back again next time we are down there.
