The Hobbit Trail Hike was like my unicorn on this trip. I had read some incredible things about this trail and was really excited to go on the hike. It did NOT disappoint!
Parking can be tricky. You can see how small the parking lot is in the picture below, and it can be hard to miss if you’re not paying attention. It is on Google Maps, so be sure to use that if you are unsure of the location.
We left our trailer at our campsite and went here early in the morning so we didnt have to worry about trying to find parking for a big setup. Once you park, you do have to cross the highway, so be careful.
The hike is only 1/2 mile into the beach. The beach is huge, so it is quite the walk down to the water. The views are incredible and so is the feeling of being in “middle earth”. It really is an incredible hike and fantastic beach.

Hobbit Trail Beach
The trail was phenomenal, making you feel like a hobbit because of all of the big foliage as well as the way the trail is. There is a beautiful beach that is almost empty because the only way to access it is from this trail.
Put the Hobbit trail on your list of MUST-DO stops on your trip on the Highway 101 – or make it a priority to go there if you live close enough!
We had so much fun looking for shells. The kids played in the water for a while and we walked up and down the beach just soaking up the amazing views and looking for creatures.
This is a fantastic place to take your family or to just go and relax and get away from everything. Make sure to wear water shoes or shoes you don’t mind getting sandy and wet.
