Fun FREE Weekend Idea – Liberty Park
I am sure that living in the Salt Lake Valley or around here you have been to Liberty Park at least once, but if you haven’t been for a while, it’s time to go back! This is one of my kid’s favorite places to go for two reasons: There are three big playground areas, and there is a Splash Pad! They play and act crazy, they run through the water and laugh and then go back and play some more and act crazy! It’s great.
There are picnic benches and tables scattered throughout the park, so you can bring lunch with you and eat while the kids are playing. Mine like to run back and forth between bites. If you plan on playing on the splash pad, bring a towel or change of clothes. There are bathrooms located just to the south of the splash pad area.
The playground equipment is excellent. It accommodates every from ages 0-99 and there is something fun for everyone to do. The best time of day to go is early afternoon since it’s not as crowded and the weather is warm. There are loads of things to do for families with older children too, such as Basketball, Volleyball, Swimming Pool, Rollerblading, etc…Check out all the details on the Salt Lake City Parks Page (pictures, driving directions, info about more).
If you want to make a day of it, located on the South West corner of Liberty Park is Tracey Aviary. They have several discounts and promotions to make it affordable – and if you have a Pass of all Passes you can get in for just $1 on Tuesdays! Learn more about Tracy Aviary here.
Other fun places to visit in Salt Lake are Ensign Peak Trail and The Great Salt Lake.
