I have told my kids that they will be limited to an hour a day for anything “tech” during the summer. So that puts the ball in my proverbial court to provide them with fun educational activities to keep them busy during the long summer days. I am sure some days will be better than others, but it is our goal. So we have made a great summer bucket list for families so we can mark things off as we go!
Some of the things we have decided are to dedicate a certain amount of time each morning to do “summer school”, music practice, and reading, chores, and scripture study. After these activities and daily chores, we want to have fun. Of course, I want them to have free time to hang out with friends or choose their own activities, but I have found that planning things to do with my kids during the summer, can save all our sanity as well as build stronger family relationships.
I have planned out a tentative schedule for this summer. I want to share it with you in case you would like to do something similar. The things we want to make sure we include are Family History, Crafts, Hiking/Outdoor/Biking, Baking/Cooking, Sewing, Art, and exploring our area (zoos, parks, museums, etc).
You may want to pick one thing for each day and have it set. I am a little more flexible since some of our local attractions have free or heavily discounted days and I want to go on those, so we rearrange depending on that and my husbands work schedule. (I know he would rather go hiking or on a bike ride than do a craft, lol)
