Netarts Bay in Oregon

Netarts Bay is gorgeous, especially at sunset like when we went. Perfect for kayaking and seeing the Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge. These can also be seen from Cape Meares.

Seaside, Oregon

We started our morning at Seaside, OR. This is a fun little town. Whether you are passing through or staying the night there, be sure to visit the Seaside Turnaround. This is the main walk down from the road to the turnabout. We stayed the night there, so we went the night before and explored the city.

We then headed down the coast and stopped at Cannon Beach to see Haystack Rock, the drove down to Hug Point State Recreation Site. Then we headed to Garibaldi (an amazing place to have lunch), and then the Tillamook Creamery.

After that, we headed over to Cape Lookout State Park and dropped our trailer off. Then we headed up to Cape Meares. Here we saw the lighthouse and the Octopus Tree. This is such a beautiful area. On our way home from Cape Meares, we stopped at Netarts Bay to do some kayaking and watch the sunset.

From the minute we pulled up I was in awe of the beauty of this area. It is perfect for kayaking. We even saw two little seals that were following us from a distance. They were so cute!

You will want to watch the tide changes. Earlier in the day, there wasn’t as much water as when we went in the evening. It raises and lowers with the ocean tides, so plan accordingly. This little area has so much to offer.

We stopped and kayaked in the Netarts Spit. This is great for kayaking at high tide, and at low tide, you can look for clams. Learn more about Netarts here.

The Cape Lookout State Park is also amazing. The camping stops are VERY tight, so take that into consideration. The nice thing is that it is an easy walk to the beach, and the beach is really beautiful.
