Meyers Beach was probably my whole family’s favorite beach. We stayed here for hours playing in the sand, in the ocean, and even drawing pictures (like the one below) to share with everyone who drove past.
Because you have to Park up by the highway and hike down a trail to get there, not a lot of people stop to go out onto the beach. On the north end is Hunters Cove (this is the actual reason we stopped because my son is named Hunter). But the whole beach is gorgeous and the water is nice (for Oregon, lol).
There are quite a few things for you to see here. There is Hunters Rock, Hunters Cove, Cape Sebastian, Meyers Beach, the Sea Stacks, and Meyers Creek. And then further down you will see the Pistol River Estuary. Further up the coast is Gold Beach.
Meyers Beach is in and of itself – absolutely spectacular. Even if you just have time for a picture from the pull out – take time to stop and soak up the beauty this place has to offer. I highly recommend stopping and spending time exploring the beach and walking in the surf.
You will want to wear water sandals – and it is nice to have some water or towels to clean your feet off with before you climb back into your car so you don’t get sand everywhere.
The sand here is great for drawing or building. My kids had a great time building a sandcastle and then watching the tide come in and fill up the “mote”. My husband drew this Oregon in the sand so we could take this fun picture, and several people stopped and took pictures of it before we had even left the area. It was great!
Cave Rock at Meyers Beach
Cave Rock is named because there is an opening that goes all the way through the rock that you can walk through at low tide. You can also kayak or canoe in this area and go through it. I wasn’t able to go through it- but I heard there is also a hole in the ceiling – so lookup.
I hope you are able to take a trip here and visit this beautiful beach! Meyers Beach is a great place to take your family for the day1
