The Canyon Overlook Trail in Zion National park is so fun to hike. It is rated as moderate because there is a fair amount of ups and downs, stairs, and some drop-offs. The hike is only a 1-mile round trip and the views are phenomenal, showcasing the canyon and Zion for miles.
While it can be a little scary at some points so be sure to keep smaller kids close and hold their hand. There is also a fun little cave (but not a cave) you can see in the picture below that the kids loved.
Take your time and really enjoy this one. Take a lot of pictures in and out. Your kids (and you, lol) will also love the tunnels you drive through to get over to the trail since it is away from the rest of the park.
Make a day out of it
This is also on the southeast end so not very far from the Kanab, Utah area. There you can do the Sand Caves, Hidden Lake, Toadstool Hoodoos, the Nautilus, and more!
Some of our favorite trails in Zion National Park, including this Canyon Overlook Trail, are Emerald Pools, Riverside Walk, Watchman Trail, and Weeping Rock.
Canyon Overlook Trail
I wish I had more pictures of the trail, but when we went, our kids were small and my husband had one and I had one to make sure they didn’t fall off the cliff. I am looking forward to going back and exploring these trails and Zion National Park again.
