We partnered with CityPASS in order to bring you this post about the Blue and Gold Fleet Bay Cruise San Francisco. All opinions are my own.
While we were on our trip to San Francisco we were able to do so many amazing things. One of our favorite experiences was taking a cruise of the San Francisco bay on the Blue and Gold Fleet ship. It took us from Pier 39 down the coast, under the Golden Gate Bridge, and then around Alcatraz and past the Bay Bridge before returning to the pier. It also passes the famous sea lions on Pier 39 going out and coming back.
Getting our tickets for the bay cruise was very easy. We just went to the Blue and Gold Fleet office on Pier 39 and showed them our codes and our order number from our CityPASS. They printed our tickets and we were on our way. There are two options for a CityPASS in San Francisco. The Blue & Gold Fleet San Francisco Bay Cruise is included with both of them. So is the California Academy of Sciences which we loved.
We showed up about 45 minutes before they started boarding, so we walked down Pier 41 before we got in line.
There is a lot of seating on the boat, as well as standing room. It depends on what you want to do. We were told that once you get on if you want the best view of Alcatraz, sit on the right side (facing the front of the boat on the right side). Those seats were full so we grabbed one on the left side. I actually loved this side more. It went slower on the way out and told a history of the buildings and the city. So if you want a better view of the city and bay, stay on the left side.
It was so much fun going under the Golden Gate Bridge. It is such a beautiful structure. We also walked the Golden Gate Bridge if you want to know more about that. If you really want to experience the bridge up close, I recommend both of these options because they give you different experiences and both are unique and amazing!
You will be close to Pier 39 while you are there, so be sure to go explore that, eat some delicious seafood and enjoy all the fun entertainment there. You will also be able to see the seals and sea lions on the pier and hear them call to each other. Overall it was a great way to spend part of our day there and I am so glad we were able to do it. Check out the posts below to see more about our trip there.
