I’m sharing #MrSketchScentedCrayons in my life as part of an Mr. Sketch sponsored series for Socialstars™. I am sharing 5 unique travel games for kids.
We love traveling so we are always going some place new to investigate and explore, but my kids, while the love the destinations, don’t always love the journey. While we are working on getting the to appreciate the journey to where we are going, we have to keep them entertained. They are still young and like to be busy all the time. So I have done a lot of researching and creating and have came up with 5 unique travel games for kids that will keep them interested and entertained on your journey. My kids are ages 4-11 and they all love it. So I am sure that your kids will love these as well 🙂
1. Travel Map with scavenger hunt
This is something that you will have to create. Be sure to include landmarks and stops and other things. Have checkpoints where they can get a treat/toy for doing certain things and following along. Have things on the side that they need to find that you know will pass on your trip (signs, animals, landmarks, colors of cars, etc). I got the new Mr. Sketch Scented Twistable Crayons™ for them to draw with and color on their maps, and they fell in love. My daughter told me “my picture even smells good”. It really does. It is so fun for them. Not only do the Mr. Sketch crayons™ come in a great variety of colors, but the smells are really good and fruity!
2. Vacation Scrapbook
Have them take pictures with a camera or their phone while you are traveling. You will also print out this fun vacation scrapbook and give one to each kid to write in and/or color in along the way so they can keep the memories of the trip fresh and not forget anything. When you get home, get some of the pictures printed and add them to the book so they have a fun scrapbook of the trip that they made all on their own.
3. Paper or Magnetic Dolls or Animals
Make or buy paper or magnetic dolls or animals that the kids can play with. You can help them make clothes, accessories, and other fun things. Color them with your Mr. Sketch crayons™ then have hours of fun!
4. Sticker books
My kids love stickers and it is so much fun to create a fun book that represents your style and views. I made these fun sticker books (free printable here) that you can print out and put together for each of your kids. You can get a big pack of stickers for them to share. They can draw pictures or stories and add the stickers. It is a lot of fun and takes up a lot of time, not only giving them a creative outlet but also is a great reminder of the trip.
5. Trip bag and cookie sheet
Fill your Trip Bag with crayons, paper, stickers, books, games, magnets and other fun items and a Cookie Sheet (we got ours at the dollar store). It becomes their “work station” for the trip and a fun place to play on. This is another great place to use the Mr. Sketch crayons™. They come in a nice pack (made of plastic) so you don’t have to worry about your kids ripping it, and the crayons smell good and have great colors!
Traveling with kids, especially during Spring break can be trying, but with fun games and activities, you will be sure to have a great time and the kids will be able to learn and enjoy the trip that much more. These travel games for kids are just a few of the ideas you can use. I would love to hear what you do with your kids when you travel to keep them entertained and interested.
