We recently test drove the all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD and today we are sharing our review with you. A new body style and improvements in the interior combined with some updated and new features make this one of my new favorites. Right now is a great time to get out and get one with the end of year sales and get one to take home. They are that amazing!
We were able to test drive the 2016 Mazda CX-5 as well and so we have a good idea of what is new and updated and can’t wait to share it with you. The new Soul Crystal Red color is exclusive to the 2017 Mazda CX-5, it also has an updated body style which I noticed right away. Personally, I love the new look better and these are just the exterior changes. The interior seating is the first huge difference you will notice. They have more adjustment options as well as being noticeably more comfortable, they also have heated seats throughout the car. One more thing I noticed as I was driving was that it is a quieter ride inside, without as much noise. Another big difference is the way the Active Driving Display is set up. Instead of having a pop up on the dashboard, it is projected onto/through the windshield.
Most of the other things are the same, like the entertainment console, touch screen etc. I love how they are set up and I feel like they are very user-friendly. I am happy Mazda kept these the way they are. I LOVE that there is a couple of auxiliary power ports where I can plug in my phone charger. They are also conveniently located and has a nice place to put the phones and other devices while they are charging.
The comfortable seating for 5 makes it easy for you to transport a car full of your favorite people around, and still have a very roomy trunk space. In addition, you can also lean one or both of the back seats down and create a space big enough to transport large items (like we fit my daughter’s cello case with excess room). There is also a sun guard/privacy screen in the back so you can keep things under it without them being seen.
Driving features that we know and love from Mazda are the Traffic Sign Recognition (telling you in the Active Driving Display what upcoming traffic signs are), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (where you can set your cruise and it slows down and speeds up according to traffic in front of you) Smart City Brake Support (to quick break at low speeds), Adaptive Front Lighting (where your headlights pivot up to 15 degrees in the direction you are turning), Automtic High Beam Control, Lane Depature Warning, Rear Traffic Alerts and Blind Spot Monitoring as well as Automatic Windsheild Wipers. Honestly, there are so many features that you HAVE to go test drive them just to get a sense of what there is. This is a really fun car to drive and I really didn’t want to give it back.
